Volunteer With Us

How volunteering makes a difference

Every weekend, thousands of children go hungry. With your help, we can have an impact. Make a difference by volunteering today.

We rely on our volunteers’ hard work at every step as we aim to support more and more students. Volunteers pack the bags, prepare the food that needs it, and then drive it to schools across the city. Find the right opportunity for you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Individuals can join any of our weekly volunteer sessions at our facility in Pikesville. We are happy to arrange additional times to accommodate community groups or businesses.

What Our Volunteers Are Saying

Making families’ lives a little less stressful by supplying a weekly backpack gives me a warm feeling inside. Just what I was looking for as a volunteer. I’ve been a volunteer at Weekend Backpacks the past three plus and hope to be one many years from now!

What Our Volunteers Are Saying

Weekend Backpacks found me through Divine intervention…. A bumper sticker. Anyone who knows me will tell you how passionate I am about children and their well-being. Children are our future, and Weekend Backpacks is the perfect opportunity for me to help meet a basic need.
Many communities in Baltimore City are considered “food deserts”, healthy food options are challenging to get. It fills my heart and soul with so much joy to be a part of a compassionate group of people, from all walks of life, who come together to support children/families who are less fortunate than ourselves.
I like all the different volunteer tasks available because it supports an inclusive environment, and I love the camaraderie, social interactions, and the sense of accomplishment I feel after each session. I especially love that I feel welcomed.
I also enjoy delivering to schools and talking with the coordinators who express their gratitude and that of the families who are also appreciative and thankful. I am so grateful to be a part of an organization that provides a vital in-kind service to those that I am passionate about.

Rising food costs increase food insecurity as well as our financial needs. Help us defray the cost of each bag by making a donation below.
