They spoke about the 3000 backpacks filled with school supplies, a good portion donated by Amerigroup, ready to be delivered to Baltimore City Schools by Weekend Backpacks volunteers.

Weekend Backpacks providing meals to homeless kids and their families in Baltimore

Fans of the Buffalo Bills did a pretty big thing the week after their team beat the Ravens in the playoffs on January 16.

The Bills Mafia, as the team’s fan base is called, raised $480,000 for one of Lamar Jackson’s favorite charities, Blessings in a Backpack. The charity, based in Kentucky, packs bags of food for kids in need so they have something to eat on the weekends.

Weekend Backpacks honored with Governor’s Service Award

On November 20th, Governor Larry Hogan joined the 37th Annual Governor’s Service Awards Recognition Ceremony, on their Facebook and Twitter platforms, to celebrate the outstanding volunteer contributions of Maryland residents and organizations.

A total of 18 honorees received awards in categories including Pandemic Response Champion, Emerging Leader, and First Responder. Weekend Backpacks was honored with the award for Nonprofit Volunteer Program. Read More
